About Us
Wesley-Rankin Community Center was founded in 1902 as the Greater Dallas Board of City Missions. Our history includes five different locations for service.
Wesley-Rankin serves a neighborhood that is home to more than 1,400 low-income families of predominantly Hispanic heritage. Many of our programs also reach beyond our immediate neighborhood into the West Dallas African American community. Each year the Center provides primary care to more than 1,500 people, of those, 40% are adults and 60% are children.
OUR MISSION:
To build a stronger, multi-generational West Dallas community characterized by active and empowered citizens, including more graduates and more responsible parents, with growing self-determination and advancing economic independence.
OUR GOALS:
To combat dropout rates through programming for at-risk and adjudicated youth; provide educational opportunities (GED, ESL, computer); be an effective Resource Center; affect social change and advance economic independence; provide job skills training; and match program opportunities to meet community needs.
