A Special Texas Adventure Weekend at the Double S Ranch

Just under two hours west of Dallas, the Double S Ranch is a working cattle ranch located in the rugged and scenic Palo Pinto Mountains. The whimsical and historically decorated Lonesome Dove Hotel at the ranch has four comfortable Texas themed bedrooms that will accommodate up to eight adults. Bring your boots and plan on being a cowhand where needed as well as just kicking back and resting a spell on the breezeway.

This Texas Adventure weekend includes the following activities and events:

1. A Texas Gourmet Dinner Event for eight served on Indian Hill (An historic hill located on the ranch where a well documented 1860 Indian skirmish occurred.) From the top of the hill you are treated to a panoramic view of the Palo Pinto Mountains and beyond.
2. A private tour of the interesting and historic “Old Jail Museum Complex” in Palo Pinto, Texas. (You will experience the Palo Pinto County vintage 1860 Jailhouse, the Moseley Cabin, the Johnson Cabin, the Roe-Maddox Cabin, the Carriage House, Fort Black Springs and several other historic structures)
3. You get to choose one of the following adventure activities: 1) A half day (10 mile) canoe trip on the beautiful Brazos de Dios River, 2) An exciting mountain bike excursion at PK Lake State Park or 3) A thrilling rock climbing afternoon in Mineral Wells State Park (must be certified to climb).
4. A two-hour “mule” (motorized) tour of the ranch. The tour will include a visit to Tombstone Hill, exploring the ol’ settler’s cabin location, and possibly hiking up to the highest point on the ranch (1450 ft) weather permitting.
